His last venture, Raju Hirani's superhit Munnabhai MBBS is so widely acclaimed that, in a first for Hindi cinema, 20th Century Fox bought its English film rights! And Vidhu's next film, Parineeta, hits screens internationally on June 10. Our photographer Paresh Gandhi caught the director in New York to promote his latest film.
Vidhu Vinod Chopra now wants to sign Akshay Kumar for a quickie. Following the good showing of Singh Is Kinng, lots of producers and directors are heading towards Akshay Kumar, whose reign at the box office continues unabated. The latest to queue up is none other than Vidhu Vinod Chopra. 
Chopra badly wants a hit and is planning to make a quick commercial so that he can make some moolah. And he wants to cash in on Akshay Kumar's dream run. It seems that at a recent party held to celebrate the success of Singh Is Kinng, the producer director, stuck close to Akshay all through the evening and kept lavishing him with compliments about his performance in the film. He is then believed to have given Akshay a drop home so that he could talk about his project. Of course, one is yet to know, if Akshay has fallen for the bait. We are sure it will be quite tough as the actor is swamped by offers and is quite heavily booked for a while. But Vidhu needs a sure fire hit right, and he seems to have settled on Akshay as his best Hero.
